Streaming has been a real boon to our entertainment. We can watch whatever we want, whenever we want. That is, unless you are an Amazon Prime Video user. Prime users have made many complaints over catalog content errors. While Amazon works on fixing the errors, Prime Video users are abandoning the service.
Catalog Content Errors
The goal of every entertainment service is to leave no reasons for users to “switch the channel,” but that is getting increasingly more difficult with advances in technology. No longer are they trying to prevent someone from walking over to the TV and turning the dial – now they’re trying to keep the user watching their channel out of hundreds, or their service out of dozens.
But perhaps Amazon is spending too much time trying to convince viewers to stay and not enough time giving them great content to stay for. It’s not that there aren’t many great choices on Amazon Prime Video, as there are. But internal documents show that there are catalog content errors that include incomplete titles, missing episodes, inaccurate details, etc.
Amazon is staying competitive while reaching big-name content, such as NFL Football and Road House, but it’s being pulled down by these errors. Sixty percent of last year’s customer complaints regarding Amazon Prime Video were regarding the catalog errors.

Amazon Working to Revamp Prime Video
The internal documents show that Amazon launched an initiative this year to handle the issues that are connected to the Prime Video user complaints. While the company spent $19 billion on content last year and acquired the MGM library a few years before, it should have also paid attention to the video content pages.
Amazon would like to launch a new program that will handle all of these content and cataloging issues. They are also considering development metrics that will show the stability of the cataloging system. With translation being one issue, the company wants to create a human-led initiative to handle it.
Hopefully, this will handle the dropoff in engagement that the company is suffering. It has reached upwards of 20 percent. With so many other options out there, some viewers aren’t willing to stick with it.
