4 Tools to View Deleted Reddit Posts and Comments

If you’ve ever been on Reddit, you’re no stranger to deleted content. If you’re curious about what that content holds, these four tools will let you view deleted Reddit posts and comments.

Tip: learn how to download videos from reddit.

1. Reveddit

Reveddit allows you to track and view deleted Reddit posts and comments. However, it can only show content deleted by bots and mods, and not user-deleted content. Users can also install Reveddit’s reveddit real-time browser extension to get notifications when their content is removed.

To start viewing deleted posts and comments using Reveddit, go to the website. Copy the relevant username, subreddit, or post link, paste it into the designated field, and click the go button.

Reveddit Posts

Scroll through the archived page to view comments. Reveddit tells users whether bots or mods deleted them. It also allows you to view all the other comments, as well as the context of the post you are viewing.

Tip: tired of the Reddit site? Create your own Reddit with Teddit.

2. Wayback Machine

Wayback Machine saves copies of web pages. It’s a simple tool that also lets users view deleted Reddit posts and comments if they were up long enough for Wayback Machine to archive them.

Go to Wayback Machine. Copy the Reddit post URL with the content to be retrieved. Paste it into the Wayback Machine search bar, and press the Enter key.

Reddit Post In Wayback Machine

The results page will show how many times the web page was saved and when. Make sure to select older dates to find deleted content. Clicking on any of the dates will lead you to a saved version of the Reddit post for that day.

You can also use the Wayback Machine to archive websites to preserve information for the future.

3. Resavr

Resavr is the least powerful tool on this list. It’s not as strong as Reveddit or the others, as it only allows users to view deleted Reddit comments, not posts. This website is only recommended when you’ve exhausted the first two means and failed to find what you’re looking for.

The only advantage Resavr has is its “Recent Comments” section for the most recently deleted Reddit comments. It’s useful if you’re casually browsing for such comments.

Go to Resavr. Use the search bar to type keywords related to the deleted comment, then click the search button, or hit the Enter key. Skim through the results page to find the deleted comment.

Resavr Comments

Clicking on any of the links should lead to a page with the full contents of the deleted comment.

4. Google Cache

Google keeps a copy of every web page it crawls. To access the latest snapshot of a Reddit post to see deleted posts and comments, follow the below steps:

Copy the Reddit post URL with the deleted content. In the URL bar of your browser, type cache:, paste the Reddit post URL right after the colon, and hit Enter.

When you get to the snapshot of the web page, check whether the deleted content is viewable. If not, that means the available snapshot was taken after the content you’re looking for was deleted. Access older snapshots using Wayback Machine.

Cached Version Of Reddit Post

Check the snapshot’s capture date by clicking on View source. The topmost part of the cached page will show the date and time the snapshot was taken.

Frequently Asked Questions

Is such archiving of Reddit content legal?

Reddit allows users to delete their Reddit history. However, it is essential to note that all archived posts and comments, whether deleted or not, were made publicly available by the people who wrote them. That means they were put up for public consumption, which was known to the user, and archived by the databases these tools fetch content from.

Simply put, this kind of archiving of Reddit content is legal. As long as the tools legally obtained the content, there shouldn’t be any legal implications with viewing deleted Reddit posts and comments.

However, if an individual were to use deleted content to defame or blackmail another person, legal implications may arise.

Can you "undelete" or restore your deleted posts and comments?

You can’t “undelete” Reddit posts and comments that you deleted yourself, as Reddit doesn’t have a restore option. You can only view their archived versions using the tools mentioned above.

How can you delete your own Reddit data securely to keep it inaccessible from archiving tools?

According to the people behind Reveddit, if a user wants their own archived, authored content removed, they should contact and request deletion from Pushshift.io, an external service they use to fetch archived Reddit content.

Unfortunately, you cannot prevent your individual Reddit posts and comments from being archived. Archiving depends on the moderators of each subreddit. They can either choose to archive or unarchive all posts and not individual posts within the subreddit.

Can I find a deleted Reddit account?

If a user chooses to delete their Reddit account, you won’t be able to find and view it. You can, however, view a deleted account’s existing and deleted posts and comments on Reddit with the help of the tools mentioned above.
